A widespread web outage has affected dozens online platforms and apps worldwide, with users noting troubles accessing the internet following issues at Amazon’s online infrastructure platform.
The disrupted apps comprise the social media app Snapchat, Roblox, the messaging service Signal, and Duolingo, in addition to multiple Amazon-operated platforms like its main retail site and the Ring security home security firm.
Across the United Kingdom, Lloyds bank was disrupted along with its subsidiaries the bank Halifax and Bank of Scotland, with also reports of difficulties reaching the HMRC site on Monday morning. Also in the UK, many Ring customers turned to social media to state their home gadgets were not working.
Solely in the United Kingdom, notifications of disruptions on specific applications ran into the tens of thousands for each platform.
